HISTORY ::
The concept, leading to what has become Rhythm and Action Arts Society, began in 2001 in Saskatoon and further developed in Vancouver in 2004, incubating within Knowledgeable Aboriginal Youth Association and partners in East Vancouver with dance classes starting in the underground parking lot at the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Center. With funding from the Community Mobilization Program of the National Crime Prevention Centre, organizers expanded into the “Vancouver Urban Arts” program, ultimately leading to the newly established society on June 1, 2006.
